Within this archive, Kim's Archive functions as a layer where earlier sources are translated into the language of the present. Expert seminars, public discussions, briefings, and field records all ask the same question in different ways: how should Yongsan be remembered? This is the layer in which older images are drawn into today’s park discourse.
For that reason, the Yongsan archive is both a storehouse of past materials and a workshop of current interpretation. When record photographs are read together with contemporary discussion records, it becomes easier to see just how complicated the transformation from military space to public space really is.
